**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Director, Business Services, the incumbent acts as a primary resource person related to budget planning, analyses, and reports on all department finances. They oversee the accounting, financial management, budget management, record maintenance. They introduce, implement and maintain an appropriate budget control system necessary to provide accurate information in regards to planning and management of operations.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Advise the Director, Business Services, regarding financial planning and ongoing budgetary matters, including development and implementation of operating budgets in alignment with Business Services plans and goals.
- Provide analytical budget and projection support for all Business Services operations in collaborations with management team. Produce monthly financial statements and monitor performance against budget and previous years. Advise Director of ongoing profit gains or losses against budget. Provide quarterly re-forecasts of budget as required. Analyze data to provide management team with information. Calculate and report potential exposure on profit margins.
- Validate all operational activity with financial reporting in UNITY. Maintain effective accounting and control systems for all financial transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, store expenses, balance sheet accounts, cash control, payroll and travel.
- Oversee all aspects of accounts payable and receivable activity to ensure accurate and timely processing of payment to vendors and collection on customer accounts. Communicate with vendors to resolve outstanding items. Monitor current accounts and coordinate collections on open credits. Maintain vendor and customer database for print services.
- Analyze data, develop and provide quarterly projections and financial reports for the Director. Analyze operational expenses and production costs to determine cost effectiveness and identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Monitor monthly uploads of charges for internal department sales. Ensure collections on all NSF customers. Provide internal sales reports to Financial Services (annually).
- Close fiscal year and prepare final documentation for Financial Services. Validate inventory variance and monitor final postings to financial statements.
- Liaise with Financial Services, other University departments and external entities as required. Ensure that Business Services comply with all reporting requirements of the University or other related agencies.
- Document and develop policies and procedures for all areas of Business Service in collaboration with management team.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or in a field pertinent to the primary responsibilities and two to four years of experience in budget management.
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English in order to create texts and to prepare reports. Good knowledge (Level 4) of spoken and written French.
- Good understanding of business process analysis principles.
- Thorough knowledge of financial and management accounting in a retail environment.
- Excellent organizational skills in order to effectively organize work and set work priorities under time constraints.
- Good knowledge (Intermediate level) of Word and Excel.
- Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures.
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal sensitively with individuals.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure with mínimal supervision.
- Keen attention to details.
- Aptitude to work in a service-oriented environment both as member of a team and independently.
- Knowledge of Business Services systems, and the University UNITY System (SAP) highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of the university policies, procedures and general accounting and purchasing procedures is an asset.
