**Applicants must possess**:

- Post Secondary in HR, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- 3-5 years of progressively senior role experience working in HR; preferably, in the Not-for-Profit sector.
- Certified Human Resources Designation is an asset.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working directly with First Nations organizations or communities.
- Understanding of general HR policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, Human Rights Act, Occupational Health and Safety, and Employment Equity.
- Knowledge of AFN’s mandate and the stakeholders it serves.
- Knowledge of a (HRIS) and records management. (e.g., Bamboo HR, HR Downloads, and Laserfiche); proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems; Outstanding knowledge of MS Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including people skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in administration of benefits and other HR programs.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information in a professional & discrete manner.
- English is the working language; however, the ability to work in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.
- Ability to work a team player with a result driven approach.
