**POSITION**: Event Co-ordinator

**REPORTS TO**:Food and Beverage and Sr. Event Manager

**Summary**:
The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defense of the waters of Lake Ontario. We are one of Canada's premier sailing, sports and social clubs, The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our Island Clubhouse on the Toronto Islands and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto. With over 4300 Members, we offer extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.

**Responsibilities**:
The Event Coordinator will oversee all Catering administration and operational aspects as well as develop contracts pertaining to all Club events. This position will work under the guidance of the Event Managers to assure that all Member and Guest expectations are met and exceeded.

**Job Duties**:

- Provide recommendations pertaining to set-up of audio/visual equipment that demonstrate an understanding of the Members meeting objectives and RCYC capabilities
- Conduct room inspections prior to the start of each event, ensuring audio visual equipment is in good working order, food and beverage requirements are met, room is clean and ready for the arrival of clients.
- Liaise with outside suppliers for necessary equipment rentals
- Maintain files in an orderly manner, in accordance with specified guidelines.
- Communicate Member needs to operating departments and resolve complaints
- Provide a high level of customer service to Members and Guests
- Participate in sales, Catering department, and other meetings as required
- Service at all times should reflect the RCYC brand
- Comply with Club Policies and Procedures
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management

**Requirements**:

- Hospitality and/or Food and Beverage Diploma preferred
- Minimum 2 years working experience in Banquets/Events
- Excellent organizational skills and detailed oriented
- Solution-oriented approach to dealing will issues
- Strong team building skills
- Service-oriented with excellent communication skills
- Must hold valid Smart Serve certification

**HOURS OF WORK**:

- Must be able to work weekdays, weekends and public holidays as well as various shifts (days & evenings)
- Able to work at both RCYC locations (141 St. George & on the Island
- launch at 150 Cherry St)
