Reporting to the Mine Manager the position is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of all mining activities, including development work, drilling, blasting, loading, hauling and dewatering; as well as detailed coordination with Mine Maintenance, Mine Engineering, Geology, and Crushing groups. This role is based at our Mary River Mine in Nunavut.

Main Accountabilities:

- Ensuring work procedures are followed and safety standards are adhered to (risk assessment, incident reporting & investigating, policy & procedures review, MOC, etc.).
- Mentor and provide performance feedback to team members and in particular to supervisors.
- Development and review of operational plans to ensure capability and delivery.
- Manage social problems as they occur and administer discipline as required.
- Support the development of the annual budget and 5-year operating / capital plans and develop capital justifications.
- Monitor the operating and capital expenditures.
- Participate to the Continuous Improvement process and implement opportunities to add value and increase the operations’ efficiency.
- Supports asset integrity reviews and development of action plans to address problems.
- Support development of the department's annual execution plan with area specific goals and objectives.
- Provide input and work collaboratively with peers and other departments to achieve safety, production and cost targets.
- Fill in for the Mine Manager as required.

Main Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or Civil Engineering
- At least 5 years in a supervisory role
- 10+ years of open pit mining experience
- Professional Shift Boss or Supervisor Ticket in Nunavut (or with the capability to register)
- Experience operating equipment or deep understanding of mobile equipment fundamentals
- Work in extreme low temperatures down to minus 40 Celsius
- Work a 3 weeks in and 3 weeks out rotation
