**1.** **Summary**
Village Home Care offers quality personalized care to seniors living at home in Regina and surrounding area. We help maintain and encourage independence to increase the quality of life, with care and kindness. With our experienced multidisciplinary care team, we deliver a comprehensive and customized person-centered care to address our clients’ varying needs.
This position provides one-to-one services with clients, whether it be located at Harbour Landing Village, or in their homes. Home Health Aide may work independently or as part of a healthcare team, and their role is crucial in helping clients maintain their independence and dignity while receiving necessary care and support in the comfort of their own homes. The specific tasks and responsibilities of a home care companion can vary depending on both the client's needs and the employer's requirements, encompassing a wide range of individualized care for clients, such as those with disabilities, seniors, individuals recovering from surgery, or those with chronic illnesses.
Qualities like compassion, patience, and empathy is essential for a Home Health Aide. Building a trusting and supportive relationship with the client is crucial to their overall well-being and quality of life. Home Health Aide must adapt to the changing needs of their clients and provide personalized care to ensure their comfort and independence.

**3.** **Key Responsibilities**:
- **Companionship**: Engage clients in meaningful conversations, recreational activities, and provide emotional support to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness. Encourages client in meaningful communication by listening, understanding, and responding appropriately.
- **Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)**: Assist clients with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to ensure their daily needs are met. Assisting with transferring or positioning clients in and out of beds or chairs.
- **Medication Reminders**: Providing verbal cues or prompts to the client to take their prescribed medications at the appropriate times.
- **Medication Assistance**: Under the supervision of the Director of Care and following specific training, this position may assist with medications at scheduled times while onsite in Harbour Landing Village, providing the client their pre-packaged medications and water.
- **Meal Preparation**: Prepare and serve nutritious meals according to dietary preferences and restrictions. Ensuring clients receive proper nutrition.
- **Light Housekeeping**: Assists clients in maintaining a safe and clean environment by engaging clients in light housekeeping; light cleaning, dusting, laundry, wipe counters, load and unload dishwasher, fridge clean, floorcare, organizing and sorting items and find solutions for any safety concerns.
- **Transportation**: Accompany clients to medical appointments, grocery shopping, social outings, and other errands.
- **Physical and Cognitive Activities**: Encouraging and engaging clients in physical exercises, such as light stretching or walking, and cognitive activities to help maintain their overall health and mental acuity.
- **Record Keeping**: Maintaining records of daily activities, client health status, and any changes in their condition. Reporting any concerns or changes to the supervisor or family members.
- **Safety and Emergency Response**: Ensuring the safety and security of the client at all times. Being prepared to respond to emergencies, such as falls or medical issues, and knowing how to contact medical professionals or emergency services if necessary.
- Understands and implements infection prevention practices.
- Requires travel between clients’ residences or facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**4.** **Skills, Qualification, & Requirements**:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience as a caregiver or companion is preferred but not mandatory.
- Certified Care Aide or Personal Support Worker Certificate is an asset.
- First Aid CPR Certificate
- Transfer, Lift, and Repositioning Certificate
- Food Safety Certificate
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with access to a vehicle
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Compassion, patience, and empathy.
- Maintain employee and family confidentiality.
- Open availability and willingness to work a variety of shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends.
