**Buyer Assistant**:
Based in Burnaby/Vancouver, the Buyer Assistant plays an important role in helping the company to achieve its goals for continued growth and leadership by assisting in the purchasing and co-ordination of the various transportation, logistics, shipping and production functions of the company. Reporting to the Inventory/Logistics Manager the Buyer Assistant will be responsible for issuing the necessary paperwork and for ensuring the flow of raw materials and finished goods are handled in the most effective and efficient manner possible.

**Educational Requirements**:

- High School Graduation
- Some post secondary education with a business focus would be an asset
- Any educational training in purchasing and/or logistics would also be an asset

**Experience Requirements**:

- 2 - 3 years solid administrative experience which clearly demonstrates your organizational skills
- Experience using a mid-level accounting package would be an asset
- Manufacturing and/or distribution experience an asset
- Experience with purchasing would also be a definite asset

**Skill Requirements**:

- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and vendors
- Strong organizational and fervent negotiation skills
- Strong computer skills, (all MS Office products a must)
- Good touch typing skills
- Ability to function in an organized yet unstructured environment. Must work well independently, as well as part of a team
- Ability to multitask and effectively deal with issues
- Most Important - “Attitude Is Everything”

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for helping with coordinating the shipments of all orders from our production facilities and warehouses, both incoming and outgoing, including preparation of all appropriate paperwork.
- Responsible for handling the complete warehousing paperwork such as Stock Releases, Inbound Shipment Notices, BOL’s and Receiving Reports.
- Handle of customs related issues for all border crossings.
- Process damage claims as required.
- Reconcile monthly inventory quantities at all warehouses.
- Responsible for issuing purchase orders and / or production orders, as directed by Inventory Manager.
- Responsible for managing our trucking database of carriers and lane rates.
- Manage and train vendors in the use of our on-line web based freight quoting system.
- Provide rate quotes to our regional sales executive.
- Grow and develop new freight vendors, both TL & LTL to meet our corporate freight strategies.
- Issue freight purchase orders.
- Create Warehouses and Freight Analysis reports.
- Maintain, manage and strengthen our corporate relationship with our freight vendors.
- Implement, and manage the continual updating of our corporate freight vendor manual and warehouse vendor manual.
- Participate on the New Product Committee, bringing your perspective and new ideas to the table.
- Perform all of the above responsibilities in alignment with our corporate strategic objectives and values.
- Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
