- The City is looking for a senior lawyer with expertise leading development projects. As a Lawyer with The City, you will have a significant degree of responsibility and autonomy within a team-oriented environment. Your portfolio will include work with commercial contracts, commercial real estate transactions, general contract drafting, and financial transactions, banking, and lending. Primary duties include:

- Provide legal advice within the context of a municipal corporation, as well as within the context of public law and policy.
- Work collaboratively with other members of Legal Services to ensure a consistent approach to matters.
- Work directly with members of other Business Units across the corporation.
- Work with new technology to achieve legal service business process efficiencies.

**Qualifications**
- Juris Doctor (J.D.), Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent degree from a recognized institution and active membership or eligibility for membership with The Law Society of Alberta.
- Over 15 years of experience is preferred with at least 8 years of experience in corporate commercial and finance law.
- Experience must include:

- Commercial contracts involving development or construction.
- Financial transactions, banking, and lending arising in a development project context.
- Commercial real estate transactions.
- General contract drafting.
- Experience coordinating legal services to support complex development projects will be considered an asset.
- Experience in municipal law will be considered an asset.
- You are a thoughtful and results-oriented lawyer who has demonstrated the ability to function effectively in a technically challenging area.
- You are detail-oriented and have experience leading complex corporate commercial matters.
- You bring a strategic approach to the law, technical expertise, and a commitment to initiating and inspiring creative problem solving.
- You have the ability to contribute to a positive work environment and team atmosphere, along with strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- You have the ability to manage competing interests, tight timelines and to work effectively and productively with a variety of people both internal and external to the Corporation.
