**R&D Position (full time)**

**Molecular Diagnostics Product Development Scientist**

Global job duties include:

- Daily R&D activities including design, execution and interpretation of scientific experiments according to ISO 13485 Design Control, IVDR and the company’s quality system guidelines.
- Research, analyze target sequences (DNA, RNA, protein) and design products based on molecular biology bioinformatics and literature research.
- Develop and validate products for use in molecular diagnostics and facilitate the preparation of a technical file for submission to regulatory bodies to meet requirements for registration with FDA, CE and Health Canada.
- Lead technology transfer from R&D to Manufacturing department upon successful completion, verification and validation of product development according to ISO 13485 and IVDR guidelines.

Specifically, the duties will include but are not limited to:

- Review literature (scientific publications, regulatory filings and marketing literature) and perform risk assessments (technological and commercial).
- Identify the key product attributes to be incorporated as input elements into product design and development based on literature and bioinformatics research.
- Perform feasibility studies: prepare study plans, protocols for product formulations and evaluation/characterization/accelerated stability, interim and summary reports.
- Perform detailed multifactorial product characterization and stability assessment and analyze study data using statistical tools to determine product degradation rate, product expiry date/shelf life and assess the impact of the stability study information/conclusions on design input requirements and product development goals.
- Communicate the progress of product development effectively and timely to relevant internal and external parties through regular project update reports, summaries, and presentations.
- Participate in technical and scientific discussions about MDx product development between R&D, Marketing, Regulatory and Manufacturing.
- Lead and participate in writing Plans, Reports, SOPs, BPRs and other supporting documents required for technology transfer, manufacturing and regulatory filings.
- Work effectively with other team members within R&D and other departments.
- Work in compliance with the company’s and relevant health and safety regulations.

Required Qualifications:

- MSc or PhD degree in molecular biology with significant experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology and/or reagent and assay design and development.
- Experience and knowledge of bioinformatics tools for analysis of nucleic acid sequences, identification of target motifs and regions for primer design, design of vectors with desired characteristics and selected targets are critical and MUST have skills.
- Experience in molecular assay design and development with demonstrated skills and understanding of nucleic acid extraction/purification from various sources (human specimens, viral and bacterial culture).
- Knowledge and experience in digital droplet PCR, Next-generation sequencing, CRISPR technologies.
- Experience and comfort in working with infectious material (human specimens, viral and bacterial isolates) in a biological safety level 2 environment.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience in using statistical tools to design, evaluate and analyze data from the product characterization and stability studies as well as for the verification of manufactures claims of assay precision.
- Working knowledge of ISO standards.
- Strong work ethic with proven ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication verbal and written skills. Ability to communicate effectively across different levels within the organization and across different departments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills coupled with the ability to handle multiple priorities under time and resource limited conditions.

**Salary**: $1.00 per year
