Social Media Manager

Ottawa, Canada GFL Environmental Full time

Reporting to the Director of Communications, Marketing, the Social Media Manager will be a key member of the GFL Marketing Team responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and execution of GFL’s social media activities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Craft compelling, engaging and varied written content for all of GFL’s social media platforms, in line with the company’s brand voice
- Create and manage a monthly social media content calendar aligned with GFL’s company goals
- Oversee the Marketing’s Team social media workflow
- Manage scheduling and deployment of all social media content
- Coordinate translation of social media content
- In collaboration with the GFL Digital Marketing Team, inform the strategic direction of GFL’s social media activities in line with the organization’s business goals
- Explore opportunities for new features and content
- Stay up-to-date with social media trends, tools, and best practices, and implement them accordingly
- Collaborate with stakeholders across GFL to develop social content, including campaigns
- Monitor front end activities including notifications, comments, and successful deployment to all channels
- Analyze social media metrics and performance data to optimize content strategy
- Assist the Director of Communications with strategic planning for GFL’s communications channels
- Other duties as assigned

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies**:

- Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in communications, marketing, content writing or related field
- 3+ years of experience in a professional communications, copy writing, social media or content writing role
- Proven experience in social media management or coordination
- Exceptional writing, language, and proofreading skills, strong attention to detail
- Clear and effective communicator
- Creative, resourceful storyteller
- Able to handle a fast-paced environment and work to tight deadlines
- Strong sense of initiative and drive, excellent organizational skills, able to work independently or in a team
- Project management skills an asset
- Supervisory experience an asset
- Must be able to work remotely
