**Position Description**:
An opportunity exists for a motivated and personable Fleet Supervisor to join our team. This supervisory position, reporting to the Manager, Fleet Services is responsible for the efficient operation of the Fleet Management section including supervision of staff, equipment maintenance and repair services, management of the service garage and developing and overseeing a preventative maintenance program.

**Accountabilities**:

- Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, quality and teamwork
- Open the fleet garage for business each day and manage shop operations for maximum efficiency, effectiveness and customer service
- Recruit, select, supervise and evaluate technical staff (mechanics, welder, parts specialist and fleet coordinator); provide direction to staff; resolve problems, set priorities, establish workloads and provide support in decision-making
- Identify staff development and training programs
- Recommend and develop procedures and ensure effective implementation and adherence
- Schedule and address daily work programs, including organizing shift work, planned or emergency breakdown calls
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and records for vehicles, inspections, maintenance and repairs
- Open and assign work orders using the computerized fleet management system
- Maintain the City’s current electronic database system for the fleet
- Establish a system of preventative maintenance for all vehicles, trailers and pieces of equipment within the City’s fleet
- Advise divisions of vehicle problems and coordinate scheduling for preventative maintenance, defects and repairs
- Monitor and approve expenditures for labour, materials, and outside services
- Coordinate with City staff in determining vehicles to purchase and how such vehicles or equipment are to be equipped
- Coordinate new vehicle onboarding process through verification of order; working with vendors to resolve any problems that arise at delivery or inspection of the new vehicles and assisting with the coordination of any after delivery modifications
- Perform replacement analysis of vehicles and equipment and coordinate with Manager, Fleet Services to replace and dispose of
- Administer the vehicle/equipment return process, coordinate with users to ensure vehicles scheduled for turn-in are returned and keys obtained
- Process vehicles/equipment for disposal including removing City related information (logos, asset numbers etc.) and coordinating transportation
- Ensure all established safety policies, related legislation and regulations are administered and enforced in all areas of Fleet operation
- Perform special projects as directed
- Other duties as assigned

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Three (3) years’ experience in the management, development and implementation of a complex preventative maintenance program for a fleet of vehicles and equipment; previous experience working with fleet management is considered an asset
- Certificate in Fleet Management and / or post-secondary education in business, logistics or other relevant disciplineRed Seal trade in 310S Automotive Service Technician and 310T Truck and Coach Technician
- A Heavy Duty Equipment 421-A License and/or Small Engine Technician certification and Emergency Vehicle Technician certification and training are considered assets
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and related health and safety regulations, best practices applicable to vehicle maintenance
- Demonstrated supervisory experience with excellent leadership, coaching and human relations skills to effectively manage performance and develop staff
- Effective professional communication and customer service and interpersonal skills and commitment to outstanding customer service to interact effectively with all stakeholders
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to prepare accurate reports and record keeping
- Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task and handle changing priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Excellent computer skills including experience with computerized maintenance management systems (e.g. EMDECS, PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office)
- Ability to work in an environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust and fumes as found in a repair facility
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s License in good standing and a satisfactory driver’s abstract is required to perform the job
- A satisfactory police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters check will be required as a condition of hire
- **Hours of Work**: Normal hours of work for this position are Monday through Friday from 7:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., with a 1 hour unpaid lunch. Some flexibility may be required to meet operational needs.
