ActivNation programs to engage Indigenous communities in healthy active living.
Our Fall & Winter programs work with Indigenous communities located 6-12 hours’ drive from the Ottawa region. Our programs are developed for youth aged 7-21 in a variety of sports but the focus of this aquatics instructor position will be pool activities for youth & adults, as well as leading and mentoring local lifeguards.

Our goal is to provide more opportunities for more community members to lead a healthy and active lifestyle

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead pool fitness classes and provide instruction to participants
- Work with community youth to provide engaging aquatics programs
- Work with community adults for intro to fitness and low-impact aquatics training programs
- Train local monitors and lifeguards
- Develop and implement exercise programs tailored to individual needs and goals
- Demonstrate proper form and technique for exercises
- Ensure a safe and clean workout environment for all participants
- Motivate and encourage participants to achieve their fitness goals
- Monitor participants' progress and make adjustments as needed
- Manage facebook page, registrations and community outreach
- Oversee aquatics operations for the local pool, and communicate with maintenance for all facility needs

**Experience**:

- CPR and First Aid certification
- National Lifeguard & Bronze Cross
- Aquatics Instruction or Aqua fitness certification as asset
- Ability to effectively lead a group and provide individualized attention
- Knowledge of various exercise techniques and equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- National Lifeguard Trainer or Examiner an asset

Program Overview:

- August 5th start date
- Must be able to travel and stay in the community for extended periods of 8-12 weeks. (Located 8 Hours from Ottawa & Montreal)
- 8 weeks of holidays throughout the year.
- All accommodations covered over the contract dates.
- Travel covered to and from Community - Drive ($.55 KM) or Flights
- Approx. 30-40 hours per week
- 1-2 Weekends per month
- Commensurate Weekly Pay with Food Allowances
- Approx. $1,250 per week - dependent on experience

Expected start date: 2024-08-05

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $1,200.00-$1,300.00 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON: reliably commute or be willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (required)
