**Position Purpose Summary**:
Saskatoon is a hub for trafficking and exploitation and is part of the Triad Route (Saskatoon, Regina, and Winnipeg). This position would be instrumental and crucial for promoting awareness, education, prevention, protection, and collaboration actions.

Working in collaboration with the PRA Divisional MSHT Response Advocate, the incumbent will focus on the following tasks and seek to address the following identified needs:

- Fulfilling the role of a Provincial Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (MSHT) Response Advocate for Saskatchewan.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement preventative, educational, advocacy, and networking efforts within the community.

This position would help provide administrative support and expand the work of the Divisional MSHTR Committee.

This is a full time position at 37.5 hours per week.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Key Accountabilities**:

- Develop and implement MSHT awareness, educational and/or preventative presentations for schools, faith-based organizations, communities, businesses, NGOs, Ministry of Child and Family Services, newcomer and Indigenous groups, and Community Safety and Well-Being Task Force.
- Collaborate and liaise with the Saskatoon Police Services and Prosecutor’s Office.
- Connect external MSHT organizations and agencies to SA MSHT response work.
- Network with schools, faith-based organizations, communities, businesses, organizations, newcomer and Indigenous groups, law enforcement, and government.
- Coordinate and distribute emergency bags for people who have experienced MSHT.
- Coordinate volunteer support, including vetting and recruitment of volunteers.

**Managerial/Technical Leadership Responsibility**:

- Reports directly to: Divisional MSHT Advocate
- Direct reports for this position: none
- Provides in-scope expertise and professional advice to the members of the Prairie Division MSHT Committee

**Working Conditions**:

- Working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
- Exposure to verbal abuse from emotionally distraught people seeking support or program and who feel they are mandated to attend program.
- The performance of the position requires a moderate amount of keyboarding/manual record keeping.
- The clientele served by the program often relate information that is highly disturbing in nature and will require intentional professional debrief and consultation.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education, Qualifications and Certifications**:

- Completion of a formal post-secondary/college program of two academic years in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or other related fields.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certificate.
- Nonviolent Crisis Prevention & Intervention Training (CPI) is an asset.
- Any additional level of education will be considered as an asset.

**Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements**
- A minimum of 3 years of prior related experience, including experience working with adults and youth in an institutional or residential setting.
- Proficient in MO Suite.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with theory, principles, and practices specifically in the human services field and issues including trauma sensitive practice, sexual assault, domestic violence/abuse, working with minors and duty to report, primary health care plans, case management, substance abuse, mental health, immigration, and homelessness issues is required.
- Specialized training in sexual violence will be considered as an asset.
- Proven work experience in crisis support and ability to mediate conflict.
- Knowledge of trauma, mental health, and substance abuse issues.
- Ability to work with a community-member-centered approach.
- Awareness of gender-based analysis theory and methodology.

- Mature individual, who is committed to the mission of the Salvation Army and is willing and able to work within the Salvation Army doctrine and theology.
- Ability to meet Salvation Army security screening requirements.
- Responsible to demonstrate by word and action a positive and professional role model for All stakeholders of The Salvation Army and to contribute to the mission and goals of The Salvation Army.
