Damage Prevention Coordinator

**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Damage Prevention, the Damage Prevention Coordinator will lead the effort to develop a Damage Prevention Program, over-see the various locate contracts, coach and train contractors and the public who operate in the vicinity of ATCO Electric Facilities in the ATCO Electric Service Area and provide support to ATCO Electric regarding Damage Prevention.

- Develop damage prevention program for ATCO Electric.
- Assist in managing various consortium locate contracts, including negotiations, financial and quality management, and audits.
- Represent ATCO at meetings with senior leadership and with consortium members.
- Represent ATCO on committees working with government on Damage Prevention Legislation.
- Meet corporate damage prevention metrics and work to continuously seek opportunities to improve.
- Use statistical data and trends to present action plans and metrics to the ATCO Electric leadership team.
- Provide support to company supervisors on damage prevention initiatives.
- Mentor and coach team members and seek appropriate training and development opportunities for them.
- Supervise staff including, hiring terminating, distributing workload, and assigning tasks.
- Perform performance reviews and properly address performance issues as required.
- Leading the promotion of Safety with ATCO employees, contractors and the public. Lead by example and convey ATCO’s Safety Values and best practices.
- Establish strong relationships with community and provincial stakeholders and proactively raise awareness by participating in consortiums and public speaking engagements.
- Oversee investigation on hit-lines and reviewing final reports and mitigation/coaching plans.
- Assist with internal incident investigations and corrective actions. Advise on disciplinary discussions.
- Will have access to consortium members costs and budgets and confidential information as part of the consortium agreements and negotiations.
- As required, assist ATCO Electric at municipal and industry trade shows and emergency preparedness events (this will require some evening and weekend work)
- Support litigation, when necessary, through investigation and reporting.
- Work with consortium members on internal incidents, incident reviews and corrective actions.
- Make decisions regarding reports to OHS.
- Be involved with disciplinary decisions regarding locators and locate vendors.
- Implement financial penalties, as required.

**Qualifications**:

- A degree or diploma in Forestry or Environmental Sciences from a recognized post-secondary institute.
- Experience working on remote sensing projects is preferred.
- Proficient in data analysis.
- Comfort with GIS software and GPS technology for operational use.
- Well versed in database management, and software system support in a forestry or electric utility environment is beneficial.
- A keen desire to learn vegetation management business processes.
- An eagerness to develop skills in budget development, planning and financial management and to become proficient in these functions over time.

- Confirmed ability to work optimally in a multifaceted environment while meeting multiple demands and priorities.
