Apathy is Boring was founded in 2004, when a choreographer, a filmmaker, and a fashion photographer met at a party. Troubled by how few of their friends were actively participating in Canada's democracy, they started an online campaign to mobilize youth to vote during the 2004 federal election.Today, twenty years later, we still work year round to support and educate youth to become active and contributing citizens in Canada's democracy. Our vision is a Canada where every young Canadian is an active citizen, and youth are meaningfully engaged in all aspects of the democratic process. This is more than just voting. It is about setting up youth to find their lane for engagement and ultimately, take charge of the conditions they live in.**About the Position**

Apathy is Boring’s work is rooted in the principle that democracy is the best system of government to advance the public interest. We know that young people in Canada today face disproportionate barriers towards having a say towards the outcomes of elections and, by extension, the policies that governments enact. Apathy is Boring’s advocacy work will advance our vision where every young Canadian is an active citizen and youth are meaningfully engaged in all aspects of the democratic process.- The Director of Advocacy and Policy will be expected to provide strategic guidance, support, and counsel to other members of the Director team, the Executive Director and, on occasion, the Board of Directors, regarding the strategic alignment of initiatives, partnerships, and projects with Apathy is Boring’s advocacy and policy goals as well as the organization’s broader fiduciary, legal, financial, and compliance obligations.**Why You’ll Want to Work Here**:
Apathy is Boring is a unique youth-led environment, driven by experimentation and a desire to strengthen our democracy by fostering youth-led democratic innovation. This means that we value everyone’s ideas and feedback at every level of the organization, and we’re constantly open to listening, learning, and engaging in principled and thoughtful ways. We are committed to supporting you in your role, and we work to create a genuinely caring and supportive work environment for all.You might also like to know that we provide:75% Employer paid group health benefits (starting after 3 months)
