Fort McMurray, Canada A.P.E Maintenance Ltd Full time

**Schedule: 7 days on/ 7 days off, on site. Local position. NO LOA provided.**

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Site Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and maintaining compliance with all relevant safety regulations. This is a critical role that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively communicate and implement safety protocols. Must reside in Fort McMurray.

Key Activities and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
**Training**:

- Assisting with employees’ first day on site. (Area tour, introducing leaders, helping with obtaining an ID, etc.)
- Provide leadership and training for implementing and maintaining A.P.E’s HSE programs/systems (FLRAs, Hazard IDs, Inspections, )
- Maintain training log, employees’ training files and ensuring all workers complete the required training for their job.

**Tracking**:

- Auditing and monitoring as required from A.P.E. Health and Safety Manual. Complete weekly inspections of each work location and follow up on any corrective actions identified. Daily employee observations are to be completed and findings provided to management to tracking leading indicators.
- Track, inspect and file daily paperwork. (FLRA, Toolbox Talks, WorkHub)
- Provide daily and weekly feedback to management. Weekly statistics to be completed and provided to management.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement
- Provide training to employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions
- Collaborate with management to implement effective safety programs
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other relevant documentation
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and changes in safety regulations.

**Education, Skills and experience**:

- 2-3 years HSE experience. (Plant experience considered an asset)
- NCSO, Driver’s License (Clean Driver’s Abstract), CSTS/OSSA (BSO)
- Proficient in Microsoft basic suite of programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong leadership skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong knowledge of Alberta legislation and the ability to interpret the regulations and laws
- Ability to work with limited supervision, in a team environment with great attention to detail
- Ability to influence staff at various levels to promote loss prevention
- Available to be on call when not on site
- No Site bans.
- Liaison with clients and the workforce
- Able to identify and assist workforce with mitigating hazards in the workplace.
- Responsible for the maintenance and development of HSE documents (JHA, Procedures, Practices, )
- Develop and maintain Job Hazard Analysis for all work locations/task.
- Assist head office administration with any request. (i.e., collection of paperwork)
