**Position Description**:
The **Clinical Informatics Specialist**, reporting to the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer, supports the advancement of clinical informatics systems through the development, implementation, and adoption of health care information technologies and practices at SickKids. The Clinical Informatics (CI) Specialist identifies and enables the implementation of workflow efficiencies, leading practices and transformation initiatives/projects that leverage clinical technology enablers. Evidence driven individual, with exceptional analytical and people skills will excel in this position.

**Here’s What You'll Do**
- Collaborate with programs to expertly analyze business needs, document business requirements, and translate them into meaningful technological specifications, such as those required for remote care management provision.
- Facilitate end to end workflow review, and current state analysis with various partners.
- Provoke thought enabled by education/training/evidence review, on innovative approaches and standards related to applied CI methodology in practice. Make recommendations and lead trial of new approaches within the team and project partners.
- Provide clinical informatics perspective/insight when participating in business systems reviews and needs assessments for assigned areas, projects, and departments at SickKids (such as Connected Care).
- Support People, Process, and Technology problem resolution/improvement work by facilitating Define, Design, Build, Evaluate and Ready sprints and project planning on assigned complex and integrated workflows.
- Support leading practice in care delivery, quality improvement and innovation initiatives through consultation and support throughout the organization.
- Serves as a consulting resource to information technology teams, project teams, other members of the organization and peer health authorities regarding requirements for clinicians and clinical information, electronic documentation practice, and electronic health information.

**Here’s What You'll Need**
- Master’s degree in Health Informatics - preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a clinical discipline, with health informatics
- Registered healthcare professional, in good standing with your associated regulatory body
- Minimum 3 years expertise in a clinical area
- Experience with clinical information system implementation
- Advanced skills in business analysis, workflow process redesign, and stakeholder engagement
- Certified in Epic - an asset
- Experience with the implementation of HIMSS 6-7 functionality
- preferred
- Experience with relationship management and working with clinicians to integrate technology into practice
- Solid understanding of federal and provincial healthcare policies and standards (for example patient privacy) and implications on the digital and virtual care initiatives
- Proven ability to communicate confidently and effectively with various levels of the organization (both clinical and non-clinical) to establish effective working relationships and collaboration
- Sound organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task and meet conflicting deadlines
- Understands the importance of and demonstrates a commitment to fostering a culture of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
- Knowledgeable in principles and leading practice in health informatics science
- Strong technical aptitude and healthcare business acumen
- Demonstrates an ability to accept change and manage change effectively

- Helps to improve the skills and capabilities of others and fosters their long-term learning and development through coaching and mentoring
