Your primary responsibility is to prepare and store food for the hotel restaurant and banquets to ensure consistent quality. You will also be responsible for preparing all desserts for the restaurant and catering outlets. You must have a high standard of quality control for food preparation and ensure all food sent out is of the highest quality.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Create and prepare baked goods and dessert menu items
- Responsible for recipe creation and menu innovation
- Advise Chef of any supplies required for pastry making
- Responsible for inventory and cost control
- Supervise and train other staff as they assist in the preparation of dessert items
- Research and develop recipes and techniques to keep menu fresh, creative and interesting
- Prepare recipe costings
- Always start shift 10 minutes early to be updated on days work
- Responsible to inform the Chef /Sous Chef of any items not available or questionable
- Make sure fridges are cleaned and product is properly labeled
- Communicate any maintenance problems or deficiencies to your supervisor or the Maintenance department
- Check your schedule before leaving to ensure you know when you’re working
- Be aware of and adhere to all policies stated in the employee handbook
- Required to work in a safe manner and abide by the hotel’s health & safety policy
- Assist in any other areas when called upon

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum 2 years of pastry experience
- Good communication skills
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively within a diverse team environment.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, managers, and guests.
- Must be able to workdays, nights, weekends, special holidays.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively within a diverse team environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, clients, and partners.
- Good organizational skills
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**

- Ability to perform duties while standing and/ or walking for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift weights up to 30 lbs, push and pull heavy equipment such as cleaning carts and equipment.
- Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, and lift while performing duties.
- Requires regular handling and use of disinfectants, cleaning agents, and chemicals.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**
Must be able to work under pressure. May experience temperature fluctuations, and moderate to high noise levels. The work is relatively safe, but care must be taken to avoid slips and falls.

**Salary**: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
