Occupational/physiotherapy Assistant

Cobourg, Canada Five Counties Children's Centre Full time

**Position Summary**:

- Provide clinical and resource support to Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists
- Provide Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services to clients under the supervision of a therapist
- Assist with and/or lead child/parent groups
- Assist with the modification of assistive devices in various materials

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Deliver physiotherapy and/or occupational therapy treatment to clients as assigned by Physiotherapists and/or Occupational Therapists
- Prepare resource materials; including handouts, worksheets, and activities sheets
- May be assigned to provide in-centre/school based rehab and/or purchased services as required
- Organize, order and maintain inventory and supplies within the physiotherapy and occupational therapy departments
- Comply with Centre’s policies and procedures as amended from time to time
- Participate in department and centre meetings and committees as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information pertinent to the children and families served by the Centre
- Assume other duties as assigned in accordance with experience, training, and qualifications to which legislated requirements may be applicable
- Mentor/support OTA/PTA students and volunteers as required

**Qualifications**:

- Graduate of an Occupational Therapists Assistant/Physiotherapist Assistant program
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience is preferred; experience working with children with special needs is an asset
- Strong communication, organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, school staff and with other professionals in the community
- Commitment to working with a family centred approach in service delivery
- Proficiency with information technology devices e.g., Computers, iPads
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel to schools as required
- Must be available to work occasional evenings and Saturdays, if required
- Proof of 3 COVID-19 vaccinations is required
- Clear vulnerable sector check required

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 10 months

**Salary**: $51,459.00-$58,127.00 per year
