**About the Position**

We are looking for the most enthusiastic, customer focused, team player in the Industrial Health & Safety field. This is an exciting opportunity as a new dedicated role to our business, to get involved in making a genuine difference in our business, our employees, and the customers we serve. This role is responsible for owning the overall Health & Safety program at MacGregors, leading a high-performance team to create substantial growth and sustained profitability for the MacGregors operations. The Health & Safety Manager reports to the General Manager and is a member of the MacGregors Management Team.

**Priority Objectives**

Priority objectives for the Health & Safety Manager are:

- Manage and execute all aspects of a well-documented, effective, and efficient Health & Safety management strategy across all aspects of our operations.
- Ensure all aspects of our business are in full compliance with the requirements of our customers, regulatory and certifying authorities, and third-party auditing companies
- Develop and manage a positive health & safety culture within MacGregors that protects our people and equipment and enables everyone to lead safe and productive careers within our organization.

**Specific Roles and Responsibilities**

Specific Roles and Responsibilities for the Health & Safety Manager are:

- Manage company COR certification program including all related audits, communication with certifying authority, and related work.
- Manage internal JOHSC committee, leading committee meetings, managing activities of team members and ensuring accountability for tasks and assignments
- Lead the development of project specific safe work plans, including on site project audits and kick off meetings as required. Follow through with all projects requiring this support from start to finish. This aspect will involve regular travel throughout Atlantic Canada on an as-needed basis.
- Maintain all Health & Safety manuals, policies, and procedures for all aspects of our business, ensuring all employees are trained and knowledgeable on the documents created.
- Manage training matrix for all employees to ensure all required training is provided and is current, including the identification and procurement of external training providers.
- Maintain all third-party contractor management website activities as required for working onsite at our client’s facilities such as Cognibox, ISNetworld, Avetta.
- Work directly with the Division Managers, Project Managers, Supervisors and Forepersons on the delivery and management of our Health & Safety program to ensure penetration through all tiers of our organization.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets for health & safety activities, ensuring value generation and ROI for all business units

- Strong leadership skills, with an ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple activities concurrently
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and become aware of best practices by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, etc.

**Key Skills, Capabilities and Experience**

- Mandatory 5-10 years’ experience leading and managing a Health & Safety program in a medium to large business.
- Degree/Diploma in HSE or related certifications strongly preferred
- Familiarity with, and an understanding of, machining and fabrication
