The Community Planning Branch of the Department of Municipal and Northern Relations is looking for a skilled and professional individual to fill a Community Planner (LP3) position located in Winnipeg. The Manitoba government has a comprehensive compensation and benefits package which includes extended health care, health spending account, dental care, vision care, long term disability insurance, group life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, family related leave and a defined pension plan (some pension plans allow for portability between the Civil Service Superannuation Board and employers). Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
- Must be able to travel throughout the Province as required.
- Must be eligible for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-secondary degree in Urban, Rural or Regional Planning, preferably at the Master’s level. An equivalent combination of a directly related degree (e.g.: geography, landscape architecture) combined with planning work experience may be considered.
- Experience in land use planning, including review of development plans, zoning by-laws and subdivisions.
- Experience working on complex policy and planning initiatives.
- Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to handle sensitive issues.
- Effective verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to clearly articulate ideas to a wide range of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to write various documents and reports at a professional level to present issues and recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective working relationships with colleagues, other departments and clients.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines with limited lead time.
