**This position will be working in person at our 41 Bittern Street Ancaster, Ontario location.**

**Purpose**

To supervise the staff in the Fire Assay department in all aspects of the job while emphasizing production, turnaround time, quality and safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Hands on supervision of fire assay technicians performing fire assay analyses (weighing, fluxing, fusing, cupelling samples, picking beads, labelling tube, etc).
- Hands on train of all employees according to procedures for analysis and safety controls and equipment.
- Ensures all Rushes, Rework and complaint jobs are prioritized and completed by FA staff.
- Addressing deficiencies in production, performance, safety, and maintenance in coordination with FA process owner.
- Follow-up on FA jobs throughout the production process to minimize turnaround time, maximize quality, and ensure safe operating procedures.
- Ensure safety standards are met and all employee are following all safety measures.
- Responsible for reporting any safety concerns or infractions to FA process owner and Health and Safety team.
- Ensure all Production logs (safety, fusion, cupellation, etc.) are accurate and kept up to date.
- Ensure maintenance is being carried out as required and all maintenance logs are maintained as outlined in QOP Fire Assay.
- Assisting FA process owner overseeing FA staff to ensure strict adherence to the QOP Fire Assay and the Lead Control Program.
- Ability to perform analysis and fill-in for staff that are sick, on vacation, or for vacant positions in FA and/or when there is backlog of samples at any step including, but not limited to Weigh, Fusion, Digestion, Gravimetric and AA run.
- Overseeing and participating in the departmental housekeeping on a per shift basis, and providing feedback to the FA process owner
- Investigating the root cause for rework jobs.
- Assisting FA process owner with investigation of FA Client Complaints and NCRs.
- Assisting FA process owner in implementing new methods/improvements.
- Any other tasks as determined by production Manager as appropriate for this role.

**Requirements**:

- High School/College Diploma
- Hands on Fire Assay experience (3-5 years)
- Supervisory experience in production/FA lab (3-5 years) is an asset
- Willing to work shifts, overtime, and weekends

**Note: This job requires work in Pb environment.**

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
