ParlAmericas is hiring a Program Officer - Gender Equality to work with our dynamic team in advancing gender-responsive governance across Latin America and the Caribbean through support to parliaments and civil society organizations.

As Program Officer, you will be responsible for providing programmatic and administrative support for the delivery of select activities related to gender equality, women’s political leadership, and the engagement of women’s organizations in parliamentary processes. You will contribute substantially to the production of training materials and other technical resources for gender mainstreaming and the advancement of gender equality in legislative work. This will involve individualized and responsive work with parliamentarians and parliamentary staff, in addition to coordination with local and international organizations and youth activists from across the region.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of activities centered on gender mainstreaming in Latin American and Caribbean parliaments, advancement of gender equality and women’s rights through legislative work, and strengthening of parliamentary collaborations with women’s rights organizations, in accordance with the requirements of ParlAmericas projects funded by Global Affairs Canada.
- Conduct gender-based analysis to inform planning of activities in collaboration with implementing teams, including in policy areas that are not traditionally associated with women’s rights, and ensure that these advance gender equality outcomes.
- Identify and promote participation of women stakeholders from diverse backgrounds in consultations and as experts in the delivery of designated project activities.
- Support the drafting and administering of gender-sensitive activity evaluations and collection of gender-disaggregated participant data, including with local organizations and their beneficiaries. Conduct quality control review, database entry, and analysis of data to support progress and variance reporting on activities.
- Research / draft / review publications, declarations, political statements, speeches, reports, briefings, website content, etc. as needed, with particular attention to consistency in the positioning, political neutrality and voice of the organization.
- Support content development and administrative and logístical arrangements for Gatherings of the Parliamentary Network for Gender Equality and other virtual and in-person activities.
- Support team members at the ParlAmericas Secretariat in providing responsive (request-based) technical support to parliamentary stakeholders, including parliamentarians and technical staff, to strengthen gender mainstreaming.
- Support data collection for databases on good practices for advancing gender equality in parliaments, including through legislative work on open parliament, climate change and sustainable development.
- Contribute to the development and strengthening of partnerships with regional and international organizations and agencies and identify opportunities for coordination and knowledge-sharing with key stakeholders, especially women’s organizations.
- Draft and review correspondence with parliamentarians and other stakeholders, ensuring that proper protocols are used.
- Review, edit and validate outsourced translations; translate short texts in-house when required.
- As needed, format or design documents such as reports, toolkits, fact-sheets, questionnaires, forms and templates.
- Maintain project files, a directory of contacts and contribute to database updates.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports for the board of directors and donors.
- Support team members and take on other tasks and duties as required for the delivery of ParlAmericas programming.
- Travel as required to support implementation of project activities.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
