**Description**:
The Adoption Specialist position is part of both the Animal Care team and the office Administration Team and is the front line for our facility. You must have a strong commitment to customer service, and compassion, be detail oriented and have a commitment to ensuring the humane treatment of companion animals

This role is the face of our animal shelter and is responsible for ensuring a high standard of professionalism is maintained while providing information to customers and members of the public about our services.

**Qualifications**:

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Exemplary customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, and creative writing ability
- Strong stress and crisis management with conflict resolution skills
- Ability to handle a phone system with multiple incoming lines
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized on multiple projects
- Highly motivated self-starter who takes the initiative with mínimal supervision
- Experience in Microsoft Office 365 Suite - ability to learn shelter specific programs
- Previous experience in an animal care environment is considered an asset
- Position is physically demanding and includes heavy lifting, pushing and pulling which requires an individual with the ability to lift fifty (50) lbs comfortably
- Possess a love of animals, an enthusiastic personality, and a strong sense of professionalism.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide shelter and program information to customers and public while complying with organizational policy, procedure, and best practice
- Tracks and manages retail sales including processing through shelter software and daily cash-out reporting and deposit preparation
- Manage City of Red Deer dog licensing and permit program
- Completes and maintains all animal administration processes and adoption forms
- Maintains retail store including displays and signage, inventory tracking and management, organizing, stock rotation and housekeeping as required
- Ensures security of the building at the end of shift
- Processes adoptions, lost and found, return-to-owner files, and cremation requirements
- Processes and maintains current Society Memberships, contact information and tracking spreadsheets
- Creates animal profiles, prepares and updates animal story boards
- Track and update animal update current information for CA Humane website and assigned social media
- Liaise with volunteers when Volunteer Coordinator is absent
- Prepares daily written documentation, reporting and file updates
- Assists Management as required
- Performs other duties as required.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
