This is a contract position with flexible hours starting on July 5, 2023 ending August 31, 2023, with the likelihood of renewal for the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms. There are on-site and remote working options for this position.

**Responsibilities for the role include**:

- Conducting bibliographic and archival research about obscure social movement magazines and newsletters
- Organizing and compiling information about the advertisements in these magazines in Google spreadsheets, with attention to detail
- Accurately collecting, describing, encoding and storing information about the data in advertisements using Oxygen XML Editor and GitHub
- Using IIF software to isolate and retrieve information about the digital images in the advertisements
- Checking and verifying that the information about the advertisement images is entered correctly
- Other tasks may include attending research team meetings and reporting on progress using Slack.

**As a successful applicant you will**:

- Have a background in the social sciences or humanities (1-3 years of study)
- Have a general awareness about the history of the feminist movement in particular, and an interest in the history of social movements in general
- Be eager to learn about new digital tools, software, and digital humanities processes
- Possess strong research, organization, and communication skills
- Work well independently and in a team environment with other project members across Alberta

**Terms of Employment**: July 05, 2023 to August 31, 2023

(with the likelihood of renewal for the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 terms)

**Hours of Work**: 8-10 Hours per week

**Wage Rate**: $18.00 per hour (Inclusive of vacation pay and stat pay)
