Bird's Major Projects division is in search of a HSE Coordinator to join a transformative transit infrastructure project in Toronto. The HSE Coordinator role will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.

The role will report to the HSE Lead.

**Responsibilities**:

- Participate in and report on management systems audits, inspections, investigations, and meetings as required.
- Undertake daily inspections on site and work with Project team to ensure safety standards are being achieved
- Report and escalate any non-compliances or potential compliance related issues to HSE Manager and Site Supervisors
- Identify project hazards and participate in risk development processes including Job Hazard Assessments, Risk Planning Workshops, Field Level Hazard Assessments
- Deliver project orientations and training
- Build strong relationships with Subcontractors, Staff and Client
- Stay informed on health and safety legislation requirements and identify any potential changes to project requirements
- Compile and generate statistical information for HSE Management as requested.
- Coordinate safety activities, procedures, and policies, and disseminate them regularly
- Ensure tracking and logging of safety training is complete and worker training compliance
- Assist in internal or external audits
- Prepare monthly reports and ad hoc reports as requested.

What We Are Looking For:

- Minimum 2 years of Health and Safety experience or relevant education
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to prepare and communicate HSE reports
- Proficient in MS Suite, Aconex and Procore would be an asset
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Standards and Legislation
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience developing safe work practice.
