**U9/U10 SKILLS CENTRE COORDINATOR**

**Description/ Qualifications**

United DFC has a large Under 9/10 Skills Center (developmental) program. A Skills Center is currently the best practice for this age group where all players interested in development train together as a large group and break into smaller teams for games. The goal of these young players is to eventually move into the competitive stream. United DFC’s Skills Centers are so large that they are broken into Under 9 boys, Under 9 girls, Under 10 boys and Under 10 girls and the field is full of young athletes for each session. For games, each group is broken into 3-5 flexible teams. The U9/10 Skills Center Coordinators will easily spend 5 nights a week on the field running these programs. The additional time will be spent doing communication, organization and planning for the program along with other assigned tasks.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Support coaches - especially less experienced coaches, to ensure they are running practices that follow Soccer Canada’s Long Term Player Development Model.
- Assist Skill Center coaches and give feedback to help them improve as coaches
- Serve as a liaison between the Grassroots Technical Director (TD) and the Skills Center volunteer coaches
- Serve as Skills Center Head Coach
- Ensure that players get regular and effective feedback on training and game play to ensure continued development.
- Ensure that players are recognized for their development and are given “call up” opportunities when deserved.
- Complete Formal Player evaluations in partnership with program coaches
- Attend games as directed by Skills Center TD
- Weekly reports
- Final report
- Spring Training sessions
- Substitute coach where necessary
- Work at club soccer camp as directed
- Attend all safety training, professional development and staff meetings
- Use technology as directed
- Help in office when needed
- Other tasks as assigned

**Qualifications**: Coaching experience, coaching courses preferred
