**Responsibilities**:

- Collaborating with the MSS staff team to develop and implement effective counselling outreach initiatives, ensuring that they align with the organization's mission and objectives
- Providing counselling, therapy, and/or psychotherapy to clients and families, tailoring services to meet their unique needs and circumstances. Additionally, providing crisis intervention and emergency services to those in need.
- Developing and leading group counseling sessions that cater to specific populations, such as groups and individuals who have experienced trauma.
- Gathering and analyzing client data through intake forms, interviews, and case histories, using this information to identify the root causes of problems and determine the best course of action for treatment or referral to other specialists.
- Liaising with legal and service agencies and individuals to ensure that clients' rights and responsibilities are respected and advocating on their behalf when necessary to enable access to relevant services and support.
- Collaborating with other therapists and professionals to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to clients, referring them to other service agencies when appropriate.
- Supervising practicum students and ensuring that they receive appropriate training and guidance in counseling and therapy.
- Following up on the care and services provided to clients to evaluate their effectiveness and recommend modifications to improve service delivery.
- Coordinating programming events and training sessions for volunteers and staff, as well as conducting sensitivity training for community partners.
- Networking and collaborating with partner organizations to enhance the quality and scope of counseling services and improve outcomes for clients.
- Conducting workshops and training sessions for external organizations to enhance their understanding of mental health issues and effective counseling techniques.
- Participating in various programs and initiatives as part of our counseling team, including community outreach events, support groups, and educational seminars aimed at promoting mental wellness and resilience within diverse populations.

**Qualifications**
- Possessing a Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and professional registration with the applicable college or association.
- Having the ability to utilize both creative and structured approaches to assist clients in self-managing their mental health and wellness.
- Holding at least 2+ years of clinical experience in providing mental health counseling services.
- Demonstrating the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a busy multi-disciplinary team setting.
- Being enthusiastic about working with patients across a broad spectrum of ages and challenges, with experience in assisting patients dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, emotional eating, chronic pain, and cognitive impairment.
- Having training in CBT and DBT, with certification being desired. Additionally, having experience in trauma or trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrating experience in program development, familiarity with outcome measurement related to clinical practice, and the ability to measure and evaluate practice change outcomes with a quality improvement focus.
- Possessing a thorough understanding of community mental health and addictions resources and how to navigate local support network(s).
- Having an understanding of the Islamic ways of healing, with any additional assessment courses and experience is preferred.
- Having excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders in the healthcare industry.
- Has knowledge of case management, crisis intervention techniques, and post traumatic stress.
- Able to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to client rights and community social service resources.
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge about anti-oppression and anti-racism frameworks.
- Able to develop and present educational programs and/or workshops.
- Deep understanding of Muslim faith and culture.
- Able to work within a faith and culturally based and strengths-based perspective and develop and implement therapeutic programming.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Child and Family Services Act, the Mental Health Act, and other related legislation.
- Possesses sound knowledge of diverse Muslim cultures, the principal issues affecting Muslim youth in Canada, and Muslim resources and traditional influences that promote the mental well-being of Muslim children/youth/families.
