**Major Responsibilities**

The Waterfront Secretariat Technical Coordinator provides technical and project management support to the Waterfront Secretariat team during the development and implementation of projects related to the Toronto Waterfront Revitalization Initiative, as well as projects outside of the tri-government partnership.
- Coordinates technical reviews and approvals by City staff of waterfront projects related to hard and soft infrastructure
- Identifies and resolves technical issues and expedites the implementation of waterfront projects. Coordinates and prepares Council reports, and prepares briefing materials and communications for City management on technical and policy issues, project management, legislative compliance, etc.
- Conducts research and analysis from a technical perspective of waterfront programs and activities, corporate policies and practices, legislation and other initiatives
- Develops and implements detailed plans, policies, and procedures regarding program specific requirements
- Manages assigned projects, ensuring teamwork and communication, work quality and organizational performance, and finds corporate solutions to manage sensitive and controversial matters
- Coordinates interdisciplinary and interagency teams and consultation processes to expedite the delivery of waterfront projects while addressing political, community, business, and other stakeholder interests
- Ensures compliance of Waterfront Toronto and other waterfront programs with City budget, policies, plans, joint agreements and protocols
- Advises on environmental assessments, risk assessments and risk management plans, and issues related to provincial and federal environmental legislation
- Represents the City in the preparation of competitive documents (RFPs, RFQs) and selection processes for waterfront consultants
- Researches and analyzes innovations in the planning and design of both hard and soft infrastructure
- Manages external consultants with respect to project specific assignments and studies

**Key Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education or professional designation in a professional discipline, such as Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Engineering, etc., pertinent to the job function, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience in managing large and complex public projects, including, dealing with technical, policy, scientific or engineering/technology issues.
- Experience in planning, architecture, engineering technology, land economics, or risk management.
- Demonstrated strengths in leadership, teamwork, negotiation, conflict resolution.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including both oral and written.
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively throughout all levels of the organization, political representatives, consultants, contractors and the public.
- Excellent technical, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and tact.
- Comprehensive knowledge of latest developments and policy in fields such as public realm and underground infrastructure, brownfield remediation and related risk assessment/risk management responsibilities, green technologies, and environmental approvals.
- Familiarity with Toronto’s waterfront, including its history, relevant plans and studies, key issues and the involved agencies and orders of government.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
