Manages the efficient and profitable operation of the service, parts and body shop departments.

The incumbent will direct the activities of the employees with an eye to ensuring positive results in deadlines, productivity levels, and quality standards.

Achievement of a reasonable operating profit, customer satisfaction standard, cost control and sales volume targets are required.

**POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Forecasts goals and objectives for the departments and strives to meet them.
- Hires, trains, motivates and monitors the performance of the parts and body department managers.
- Prepares and administers an annual operating budget for the service, parts and body departments.
- Maintains reporting systems required by general management and the manufacturer.
- Attends managers meetings.
- Monitors the performance of the service, parts, and body shop departments.
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the departments and with all other departments.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect repair operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Understands and ensures compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
- Holds weekly department meetings and safety talks.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
- Fosters professional employee development and coordinates with department managers to determine need for advanced training.
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality.
- Makes customer satisfaction a department priority, ensuring that service and parts personnel are courteous and respectful in their interaction with customers.
- Handles customer complaints immediately and according to dealership’s guidelines.
- Administers warranty claims, reviews warranty policy adjustments, understands and applies warranty guidelines, ensures correct processing of claims, and communicates warranty information and clarifications to customers.
- Develops dealership service, parts and body shop pricing plans and recommends to director.
- Works with parts and body managers to find ways to improve the overall profitability of the dealership.
- Keeps abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommends purchases.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance personnel recruitment activities.
- Serves as liaison with factory representatives.
- Ensure all department staff receive feedback and are managed within the parameters of the supervisory responsibilities list.
- Maintain a daily clean-up program including but not limited to, parking area, waiting room and workspaces inside and outside.
- Communicate and cooperate with other department managers, encouraging teamwork within the dealership (s) by setting the example.
- Comply with all dealer policies and procedures.
- Ensure all Health and Safety policies and procedures in accordance with legislation and company polices are strictly adhered to, including safe use of equipment and proper PPE.
- Actively participates in the functions of the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with documented procedures set out by the manufacturer and dealership.
- Ensure all municipal, provincial and federal legislation as it pertains to the dealership and the job function are strictly adhered to.
- Performs other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Establish quality and quantity standards.
- Ensure quality and quantity standards are met.
- Formally recommend changes in number & class of positions.
- Train applicable employees how to do tasks.
- Give advice and guidance on work procedures.
- Discuss employee’s work performance with subordinate supervisors.
- Preform annual performance evaluations with all management and service employees.
- Give an opinion to supervisor in selection of new employees.
- Establish work priorities and schedules.
- Assign work to ensure continuity of workflow.
- Allocate staff to meet short-term fluctuations in work.
- Council and address employees with attendance or performance problems.
- Formally recommend disciplinary action.
