**Description**

The **Planned Maintenance** within the **Facilities Management** is currently seeking two (2) Full-time Regular **Maintenance Planners.**

Operations and Maintenance (O&M) department, as a part of Facilities Management and Development, is responsible to ensure that building structures and systems for all University owned and leased properties are operated and maintained in a reliable, efficient and cost effective manner to ensure a safe and comfortable work environment in which campus users can carry out their activities. Campus is divided into 6 operating zones.

The Maintenance Planning work unit is responsible for the planning and scheduling of all preventative maintenance activities for the south and main campus facilities. This unit is responsible for the effective workflow and scheduling of maintenance activities for Operations and Maintenance. Additionally, this unit also has the overall responsibility for the information processes of the Archibus/FM modules related to workflow management and asset performance data, as well as tracking of equipment entering and leaving the facilities. This position collaborates closely with the following key team members to ensure the required resources are identified, planned, estimated, organized, scheduled and benchmarked for efficient utilization of the maintenance resources:
Zone Maintenance Managers and Supervisors;
HVAC, Life Safety, Millwright, Lock Shop Central Teams;
Maintenance Planning Team;
Information Technology Teams;
District Energy Plant including Electrical Utilities Distribution Team;
Campus Engineering and Architecture Team;
Capital Maintenance Renewal Team;
Project Management Team.

The Maintenance Planner, as a part of the Maintenance Planning Team, is responsible for the management data of all assets and information related to assets within University of Calgary operations to fulfill the maintenance responsibilities regarding code and University standards as well as industry best practice routines.

This position reports to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance Contracting. This position is a part of the AUPE Collective Bargaining Unit. The normal shift is 7.5 hours per day, five days per week, usually Monday to Friday 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM, however, transfers to other shifts, with notice, is a possibility. Overtime may be required. Callouts to the campus can be expected during emergencies.

The primary role of the Maintenance Planner is to schedule all short
- and long-term maintenance activities, with the goal of improving the productivity and quality of the University work force by eliminating in advance any potential delays and obstacles to efficient preventative maintenance activities. This is done by providing current procedures, technical data, and schedules to the various tradespeople and service people ahead of the actual preventative maintenance activities.

The Maintenance Planner is also accountable for the development, implementation, review, quality control and renewal of Campus Assets Information and Inventory. The Maintenance Planner is part of a team responsible for the asset information data system within campus operations systems. The Maintenance Planner, Assets Inventory Coordinator is expected to develop, implement, monitor and update procedures and technical data to improve strategies for funding preventative maintenance staff training requirements, change of management strategies, workflow patterns, maintenance, and asset management tools. Maintenance Planners provide Major Capital and Minor Project design and development drawing reviews on behalf of Operations & Maintenance. Partner with Campus Engineering and Architecture (including BIM) personnel in the development and ongoing refinement of University of Calgary FMD mechanical and electrical design standards and specifications.

Maintenance Planners perform regular conditional analysis and assessment of University-owned assets and actively participate in and facilitate the Alberta Infrastructure external facility condition audit process. Informing Projects of ABSA regulations and guidelines, ensuring proper forms and registration is to ABSA standards and compliance. Provide strong representation at Project meetings and offer valuable input into maintenance aspects of equipment as well as cost of recurring maintenance. Assist PMO in identifying impacts of shutdowns to HVAC, Electrical, and Mechanical systems. Optimize resource utilization by aligning maintenance activities with project timelines and milestones. Assess and identify potential risks related to maintenance issues that could impact project timelines. Provide documentation to project teams to support decision making and future planning contingency plans for addressing unexpected maintenance needs to mitigate project disruptions. Commissioning of projects to add and remove equipment as necessary. This includes identifying assets, barcoding, and recording all relevant data.
