**About Us**:
The Office of Priorities and Planning (OPP) facilitates the successful implementation of government priorities. We are responsible for communicating and managing priority objectives, working with senior leaders across departments to advance government’s policy agenda, and monitoring progress.

OPP is looking for a Summer Student to help support our dashboard, data, and technology needs from **June 5, 2023** to **August 31, 2023.**

**About Our Opportunity**:
The Summer Student is responsible for basic maintenance and monitoring of our internal dashboards. They provide data-based information from these dashboards and other sources to inform reporting, policy, and project-based work. As time permits, the Summer Student can develop innovative ideas for these dashboards for potential implementation. The Summer Student also provides direct support and troubleshooting for technology products including cell phones, computers and related software.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
A few key responsibilities of this roles include:

- exceptional (internal to government) client service.
- monitoring internal dashboards to ensure they are functioning properly.
- maintenance of internal dashboards including data updates from internal and external sources such as Statistics Canada.
- exploring ideas and beta versions to add new features to the dashboards (as time permits).
- provision of hands-on assistance, troubleshooting, and instruction to office staff relating to technology products such as iPhones, computers, smart screens, and related software such as Microsoft Teams.
- creating visual images and infographics.
- creating written documents.

**About You**:
This may be the right opportunity for you if you are curious and like working with ideas, information, and data. You enjoy learning about everything, especially public policy, and the public sector environment. You like to try to improve things, come up with new ideas, and attempt new approaches.

Community College and University students are encouraged to apply. You might be studying computer science, data analytics, information technology or management, or a related field. You are great with integrated corporate software like Tableau, SharePoint, and PowerApps, and of course the rest of the Microsoft Office/365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Team). You can find your way around digital tools such as iPhones like the back of your hand. You are probably ‘that person’ - the one everyone turns to when they cannot figure something out on their computer or phone.

You take pride in client service. You want to be part of the team and are willing to jump in, share your thoughts, and help out with whatever needs to be done. You are likely outcome driven but understand that how you arrive at your destination is important, so you pay attention to political, cultural, and people sensitivities. With your broad set of skills, resourcefulness, and great time management, you are comfortable tackling a variety of different tasks and contributing to several projects. Once direction is provided, you can work independently and as part of a small team that supports a much larger team. You are a good writer, with a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate information. You also enjoy expressing your ideas through images, charts, graphs, infographics, and other visuals.

Due to the nature of this posting, most of your time will be spent in a small and enthusiastic office Monday to Friday about seven to eight hours a day. Computer work and meetings, in person and virtual, are typical activities in a day. At times, business requirements may demand longer hours to meet deadlines. Travel is limited.
