**Position Title**
- Manager, Centres for Manufacturing & Energy Innovation**Position Summary**
- Teaching, Learning and Research welcomes you to join our team as Manager for our Centres in Manufacturing and Energy Innovation.
- The Centres for Manufacturing & Energy Innovation at Red Deer Polytechnic focus on the serving the needs of entrepreneurs and SMEs. We have successfully completed hundreds of client projects since opening in 2009 and are seeking a Manager to join our team.
- Reporting to the Director, Centres for Manufacturing & Energy Innovation, the Manager oversees the progression and completion of all the applied research projects undertaken by the Centres. Working closely with the Director, Business Development Team, and the Technical Leads in the Centres for Manufacturing & Innovation, the Manager uses sound project management principles and effective leadership skills to oversee, monitor, and allocate the required resources, as well as lead and support the Centre’s staff.**Position Responsibilities**

**Project Delivery**
- Oversees, monitors, and tracks project plans that are handed off by Technical leads to ensure projects are on schedule
- Collaborate with the Director, Business Development Team, and Technical leads to develop project proposals
- Tracks and monitors the progression of all Centre projects
- Organizes resources and hires and deploys staff for projects
- Understands and represents the positions and priorities of the Centres
- Reviews, monitors, and maintains project contracts
- Oversees a central performance metrics tracking system to ensure that information is recorded, accurate and consistent across reporting
- Ensures performance metric tracking includes information pertinent to each funder and granting program held by Red Deer Polytechnic’s Industrial Research Centres
- Through ongoing work and communication with existing customers, will inform the Director and Business Development team of emerging fields of interest, patterns in client requests, and other information that will inform market intelligence gathering efforts that drive strategy and investment decisions
- Represent the Centres at events, trade shows, conferences, and other professional gatherings
- Maintain high level of engagement with internal and external stakeholders

**Financial Project Support**
- Tracks and monitors all industrial research projects and effective administration of financial activities and or grant administrative functions for centre
- Monitors and maintains all industrial research project budgets in accordance with the requirements of Red Deer Polytechnic and external funders, and in consultation with the Operations Manager
- Leads purchasing initiatives for the centres ensuring purchases meet funder eligibility requirements and proper purchasing process as outlined by the funder and Red Deer Polytechnic
- Tracks invoicing for the centres including invoices for industry partner grant contributions/matching funds and technical service client invoices
- Tracks, coordinates, prepares, and submits all documentation required as it relates to accounts payable/receivable in terms of receiving goods
- Coordinates the collection, tracking, and reporting of performance metrics for internal and external reporting purposes
- Meets with Director and Operations Manager regularly to review budgets and provide updates and alerts as needed
- Tracks all financial operations/reporting requirements related to internal and external funding portfolio and creates monthly status reports for the research management team
- Maintains current and historical project financial records
- Reconciles expenditures against approved budgets and coordinates, prepares, and submits all documentation required for financial reporting including back-up documentation in support of the Operations Manager
- Coordinates and assists with the completion and submission of reporting for the centres, both financial and narrative, collaborating with the Managers; Operations Manager, Division of TLR; Associate Vice President, Red Deer Polytechnic Finance division; and other departments as needed to submit reports as required by the terms of awards/contracts, third party requests and funder deadlines
