The duties and responsibilities of a Vocational Instructor include continuing excellence in one’s field, instructional and professional duties, professional developments and service.-
**Functions and Duties**
- Instructional duties may include any or all of the following:
- Instructional (teaching assignments)
- Course and program preparation and revision
- Student contact
- Student advising
- Evaluation and marking of student work
- Other functions related to instruction
Professional duties may include any or all of the following:
- Curriculum development
- Student registration
- Pre-registration duties
Service may include any or all of the following:
- School visitations
- Participation on OC committees
- Attendance at articulation meetings
- Representing OC at other functions
- Administrative and other duties**Education and Experience**
- 1. Successful completion of a related apprenticeship program and a Certificate of Apprenticeship with an Interprovincial endorsement.
- 2. An undergraduate degree and post secondary teaching experience are preferred; however, applicants with an equivalent combination of teaching and work experience may be considered.
- 3. An Instructor’s Diploma or valid BC Teacher’s Certificate appropriate to the instructional assignment is preferred, and will be required following appointment in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

- A typical instructional week consists of 27.5 hours of instructional time and 2.5 hours of non-student contact time for a total of 30 hours per week.
- Program schedule is typically Monday to Thursday, 7.5 hours per day, but will depend on workload.**Annual Salary/Hourly Rate**
- Salary range $69,753 to $111,776 annually; normal starting salary between $76,574 and $83,395 annually, dependent on relevant education and experience.**Appointment Type**
