Our Investment Finance Fund Accounting Department performs highly specialized fund accounting activities across AIMCo’s multi layered portfolios, ensuring client accounting fairness is maintained at all times. We oversee daily unit trades, execute in-kind asset transfers within AIMCo’s investment pool structure to ensure AIMCo’s AUM is accurately accounted for at all portfolio levels. Deeply rooted with accounting and data analytic knowledge, we manage accounting policies and improve the integrity of accounting and NAV data within our system. AIMCo clients rely on our monthly confirmation on SSRS accounting reports to carry out their accounting processes. The Co-op, Investment Finance Fund Accounting will assist the team in the accurate and timely processing and reporting of all transactions for AIMCo’s clients through the completion of daily validation checks.

**Responsibilities**:
As the successful Co-op, IFFA, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Completion of the daily Fund Accounting validation checklist.
- Assisting with changing validation tools to become more efficient and intuitive. This will include General Ledger and day-over-day validations.
- Assisting the team in changing the current reporting process with automated PowerBI dashboards for increased efficiency.
- Completion of second or third-year undergraduate studies in Accounting or Finance
- Enrolled in a formal work experience program with remaining work terms available
- A team player with strong organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong financial accounting skills
- Experience using data query/visualization tools such as SQL and Power BI would be an asset
- Exposure to automated reporting is an asset
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
- Effective analytical, organization, time management, and communication skills
- Good understanding of, and ability to apply, investment accounting rules and guidelines including Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants handbook (GAAP), Public Sector Accounting Board (PASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and the Financial Administration Act is an asset

Success Measures

Your success in the role will be in your ability to finish tasks independently and support various Investment Finance projects. Your enthusiasm and passion for learning will be supported by the Investment Finance team, made up of various accountants, administrators, and our Director.
