The **Canadian Mental Health Association - Peel Dufferin Branch** is recruiting for **one** **Post-Secondary Student (BSW) to** **complete Student Placement **with the **Bramalea MDT** team starting **September 2023.**

The Post-Secondary Placement Student will be embedded with the Bramalea Multi-Disciplinary Team. The student will have the opportunity to shadow staff working in multiple functions, including case management, groups, mental health counselling, addiction counselling, and intake services. The student will be supervised primarily by the team’s Immediate Intervention Specialist.

The placement is **unpaid **and will be based out of **60 West Drive, Brampton**. CMHA Peel Dufferin has adapted to a hybrid working model including a mix of on-site and remote work. Students should be open to a combination of in-office/in-community client work, and remote/virtual work. CMHA PD would provide all the required PPE for any community or in-person work.

The placement opportunities will be up to 4 months long. Typical working hours are 8:30am-4:30pm or 9am-5pm, with some flexibility for evening work to accommodate group programs and/or client needs.

**What You Will Do**
- Complete intakes and support assessments - including GAIN Short Screener
- Facilitate single session counselling and single task-based interventions
- Deliver recovery-focused and social/recreational group programming
- Open client files and document program determination
- Complete referrals to both internal and external programs, and liaising with community partners
- Participate in various committees and projects as available
- Perform other duties as required
- To actively contribute to the mission, vision, and values of CMHA Peel Dufferin
- To adhere to the policies and procedures of the Branch and your program(s)

- Maintain a friendly and courteous attitude, keep supervisor informed of activities, progress, problems, and roadblocks on a timely basis.

- To actively encourage the involvement and empowerment of consumers/survivors
- To follow the direction of the Joint Health & Safety Committee in complying with the Ontario Health & Safety Act

**What You Need to Join Our Team**
- Current university student in social work or equivalent
- 1 year (combined employment/volunteer/placement experience) in health care and/or social services
- Ability to connect and engage with clients
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; strong knowledge of Excel
- Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills

**Requirements of the Position**
- Satisfactory police records search and vulnerable sector screening
- Satisfactory references
