**Outline of Role**

The Design and Drafting Technician is responsible for the design and production of fabrication drawings, code compliant (Ontario Building Code/National Building Code of Canada) conceptual design /working drawings and file documentation for various modular building projects within the company.

Reporting directly to the Design Manager, the Design and Drafting Technician will create drawings, designs and project file documentation for client, Consultant reviews based on coordinated submissions from the Business Development/Pre Construction and Estimating Departments. Drawings will be reviewed by Design Manager as may be required to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Critical contacts in this position internally are Business Development/Pre-Construction & Estimating Staff, Project Managers, Manufacturing staff and trades, and External Architects, Engineers and Customers as required.

Key to this position is the ability to work quickly and accurately to produce drawings that are code compliant, meet both customer and corporate design specifications and estimates with cost controls in mind.

**Responsibilities**
- Produce fabrication drawings aligned with product specifications and company manufacturing best practices.
- Develop drawings and plans or layouts from sketches.
- Develop and prepare code compliant designs and drawings from preliminary concepts to 'ready for engineer review' stages.
- Develop job specific detail drawings
- Develop and prepare sketches.
- Develop and prepare 3D renders.
- Check and verify drawings to conform to specifications or design data.
- Prepare material quantity surveying for the purpose of estimating.
- Prepare and produce drawings sets.
- Provide support to Design Manager, Business Development/Pre-Construction Manager, QA/QC Manager, Project Manager, and CEO regarding all project related issues.
- Manage and track project drawings and specifications.
- Identify project risks, problems and issues as early as possible.
- Liaison and collaborate with Owners and Engineers.
- Participate in meetings.
- Light Physical Demand (0-20 lbs.)
- Identify and report immediately any safety hazards.
- Comply with ANC, Ontario Health and Safety Association and MSDS safety standards.
- Comply with Ontario Building Code/National Building Code of Canada.
- Complete provided Health and Safety Education as provided.

**Qualifications**
- Post-Secondary Diploma in Architectural Technology/Technician or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in the building industry using Revit and CAD technology.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' of experience in Ontario Building Code (OBC) utilization and interpretation in a design/engineering related function.
- Experience in architectural, structural, MEP design work with a bias towards architectural

**Key Measurements of the Position**

- Keep Design manager updated on all project developments as assigned.

**Quality/Environmental Management System Responsibility**
- May initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to the project, process and quality/environmental system.
- May identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality/environmental system.
- May initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
- May control further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfied condition has been corrected.

**Reservation of Authority**
- To spend funds in excess to approved budgets.
- Starting salaries or changes to salaries.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
