Environment and Permitting Coordinator

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX:FOM), a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people. We are currently seeking a** Coordinator, Environment and Permitting **to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay project team. This is a full-time position supporting the McIlvenna Bay site, located within the Hanson Like District of Eastern Saskatchewan. This position will work a 2 week in/ 2 week out rotation.
The McIlvenna Bay Cu-Zn-Au-Ag deposit is one of the largest undeveloped VHMS deposits in Canada. Foran recently completed (2022) a feasibility study for the deposit and is undertaking advanced exploration and detailed Engineering activities this year. The McIlvenna Bay deposit’s core commodities are critical for the global transition to green energy and Foran aims to extract these critical minerals in a sustainable manner by empowering local communities, contributing to circular economies and protecting the environment for future generations.
**Coordinator, Environment and Permitting**
Foran Mining has recently completed a positive feasibility study for the McIlvenna Bay project and is advancing design and permitting. As part of the ESG team, the **Coordinator** will be responsible for providing oversight and support for all work at the McIlvenna Bay Project including advanced exploration activities, project permitting and operational readiness. This role will be vital in the development, execution, and implementation of environmental policy, monitoring, reporting and permitting practices for McIlvenna Bay. The role will report to the Manager, Environment & Permitting.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supervises the environment technician and environment technician trainee position
- Supports the management of day-to-day operations of the environment and permitting department to ensure efficient functioning and regulatory compliance
- Fills in Environment and Permitting Manager and Environment Technician duties when required
- Supports regulatory interaction on environment matters
- Provides technical support to the site on environment items
- Ensure site compliance with relevant legislation, operation approvals, environmental management practices through guidance, coaching, mentoring and oversight.
- Support site operations by planning and delivering environmental training for employees, contractors and service providers.
- Plan, development and implement the environmental management plan and associated procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in the design of sampling/ monitoring programs for industrial facilities and prepare recommendations and action plans.
- Produce high quality technical environmental reports/memos, compliance reports, and online reports as they pertain to regulatory and permit requirements.
- Develop and maintain environmental monitoring data records for the site;
- Assist with development of environmental monitoring and permitting schedules and budgets;
- Participate in meetings and field inspections with the company, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agency personnel, as required.
- Coordinate and assist various consultants or contractors to support compliance or permitting activities.
**Job Qualifications and Skills**:
- Understanding of provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, standards and guidelines applicable to the mining industry in Saskatchewan.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of science or engineering or diploma in environment with suitable combination of experience.
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in environment industry. 1-3 years of experience will be considered for the right applicant.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, organizational and time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to operate with a high degree of accuracy.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook) with advanced skills in data analysis and interpretation.
- Professional designation - P.Eng, P.Geol, P.Ag or equivalent or eligible to be designated a Qualified Person with respect to the Saskatchewan Environment Code is considered an asset.
**Physical Demands**:
- Field Inspections: Occasionally, Environment and Permitting Coordinators may need to conduct site visits and field inspections to monitor environmental compliance. This can involve walking on uneven terrain, climbing, and exposure to outdoor elements.
**Tools & Equipment**:
- Will be required to operate truck, truck with trailer, UTV, ATV, snowmobile, boat, chainsaw.
- Computers and standard office software for data analysis, report preparation, and communication.
- Specialized environmental software for data collection, analysis and trending
- GIS software for mapping and analyzing environmental data, including land use, vegetation, and hydrology.
