Bookkeeper

Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to build the social, health, economic sufficiency of marginalized, low-income and newcomer groups. The Bookkeeper will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, and will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process
- Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct ledger
- Produce monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reports
- Entering and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Generating financial reports and analyzing data
- Maintain and update general ledger accounts
- Prepare financial statements and reports, including balance sheets and income statements
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records
- Accounting basics including preparation and analysis of general ledgers and monthly financial statements, calculation of fixed assets and depreciation as well as preparation of other statistical, financial, and accounting reports
- Other duties and projects as required
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper, completion of Accounting Diploma or QuickBooks
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
- High degree of accuracy in data entry and attention to detail
- Proficiency in using accounting software, such as QuickBooks
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
