**Responsibilities**:
The Regional Manager will be responsible for the recruitment of prospective international undergraduates to the University’s undergraduate, degree, diploma and certificate programs, and will ensure that Western recruits the most highly qualified international students to the University. This role will visit locations in the region of interest that are identified as priorities for the University, and will develop ongoing relationships with targeted schools, students and other relevant stakeholders such as Alumni, Recruitment Representatives, Marketing Firms and the Trade Commissioners Service. The Regional Manager will participate in the development, implementation, expansion and evaluation of strategies for the recruitment of international students to the University, with a focus on increasing the diversity of international applicants and students at Western.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- Undergraduate Degree
- Graduate Degree preferred

**Experience**:

- 5 years
- Experience in an academic institution working in an international recruitment, marketing, or communications role, or providing support for international students
- Previous experience working with a culturally diverse client base
- Experience in a University environment preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Near native to native proficiency in Mandarin orally and in writing
- Mandarin and Cantonese proficiency preferred.
- Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese or Bahasa Indonesian proficiency an asset.
- Cross-cultural knowledge, understanding, and competency
- Knowledge of procedures required of incoming international students
- Ability to act on new information and effectively contribute in a changing environment
- Presentation skills to deliver engaging and informative presentations that clearly explain information to audiences using appropriate communication channels
- Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
- Ability to work in a manner that models best practices in confidentiality standards
- Cross-cultural competency with an ability to interact and work effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds with the capacity to consider issues from the perspective of others
- Ability to supervise a virtual team composed of Western staff, external recruitment representatives and marketing officers
- Ability to advise the Director. International Undergraduate Recruitment as to strategy, operations and tactics for recruitment plans in the selected region
- Ability to plan, execute and evaluate a regional international undergraduate recruitment plan through the following enrolment stages: Suspect to Prospect, Prospect to Applicant, Application to Application Ready for Decision, Admit to Accept, Accept to Registrant.
- Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
- Ability to liaise with executives and senior leaders internally and externally (Recruitment Representatives, Trade Commissioners Service, Marketing Firms etc.)
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Self-directed, and comfortable exercising discretion and independent judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to listen, inform, explain, and advise students on academic processes and regulations
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of self management, accountability and initiative
- Ability to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate University guidelines, policies and practices to key stakeholders
- Ability to plan and manage events of assorted sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events, activities and regional work practices/holiday schedules
- Willingness and ability to travel; must have a valid passport in respect of all visa requirements
- An ability to travel extensively throughout Ontario
