We are responsible for providing a safe, clean, productive and well-maintained physical learning and working environment through the effective planning and delivery of professional services in design, construction, maintenance, utilities, caretaking and grounds. The Zone Supervisor will be responsible for managing the maintenance, repair, minor renovation, and asset management of all interior and exterior physical building spaces of multi-story buildings, in adherence to building codes, in their designated zone. The incumbent will assist with the implementation and ongoing revisions of preventative maintenance programs at the university and may be assigned responsibility for critical technical services and emergency response regarding maintenance operations. The Zone supervisor leads a team of maintenance trades staff and occasionally external contractors to provide a high standard of service to departments and community members on campus. This position further supports York's commitment to sustainability, equity, diversity and inclusion at York University.

**Education**:
Post-secondary diploma in a trade field, building maintenance or construction.
Valid Ontario Trade Certification.
Class 'G' driver's license in good standing.

**Experience**:
Minimum 5 years of related experience, including 3 years of management/supervisory experience.

**Skills**:
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, standards and practices.
Knowledge of building systems and facilities.Skills
Technical skills on safe usage and handling of materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and repairs.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings, documents, interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
Excellent financial planning and analysis skills.
Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload and meet timelines.
Ability to model multiple problem-solving approaches and identify optimal solutions based on the unique needs of each client.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to foster an environment of trust, support and accountability while modelling respect for employees.

**Additional Notes**:
Exposure to inclement weather, noise, various pollutants, dust, toxins and/or chemicals.
Travel required to on-campus locations.
Works both inside and outside of buildings.
24/7 on-call rotation. Note: Position requires verification of degree(s)/credential(s).
- **Compensation**:
York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award. Employees will receive the grid adjustment and depending on performance, eligible permanent employees may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.Visit the CPM Compensation page on the HR Website to find out more about York's CPM Compensation Program.
