ABOUT THE JOB

Marid Industries Limited is seeking a Junior/ Intermediate Detailer to join our drafting and engineering team. At Marid our work varies from structural steel buildings, miscellaneous steel (stairs and railings), bridges, and renovations. As the Detailer you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and widen your scope of knowledge.

The Steel Detailer provides detailing support, checking, and project coordination to Engineers, Project Managers, and/or Customers. Reviews all contract data provided by our customers for each project and translates the info onto Marid drawings so that our shop and site employees clearly understand scope of work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, Senior Detailers, and customers/clients to translate customer information into Marid produced drawings and ensure drawings are accurate, concise, and detailed so shop fabrication and erection of steel operates efficiently.
- Provide advance bill of materials to our purchasing department for each project to ensure we have the right material at the right time, to ensure we meet our customer’s schedule.
- Maintain proper document data control in accordance with our Marid Quality Control Manual.
- Create multiple reports such as RFI’s, buy lists, bolt lists, etc.
- Support the fabrication and erection team with troubleshooting on daily challenges.
- Contribute to the ongoing efforts of the quality assurance and LEAN programs.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPEREINCE
- Successful completion of a Civil Engineering Technology program or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills is a requirement.
- 3 Dimensional modelling (Tekla/Revit) experience is an asset.
- Formal AutoCAD training.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate operations between the shop, site, general contractor, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to draw sketches or details on paper is an asset (for checking and communication purposes).
- Knowledge of basic bolted & welded connection design, and welding symbols.
- Ability to work on various structural and miscellaneous projects at any given time depending on size of project and complexity.
- Formal drafting training.
- Ability to work with math concepts such as percentages, ratios, areas and volume.
- Familiarization with industry standards (CISC and AISC).
- Knowledge of the National and Provincial Building Codes is an asset.
