**Personal Support Worker**
- Part-Time & Full-Time available_
**Rate of Pay**:$23.88-27.85 per Collective Agreement

**Responsibilities of Personal Support Worker (PSW)**:
- Participates in nursing related functions as directed by supervisor and assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), including: assisting with personal grooming, bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, feeding totally dependent residents, providing verbal encouragement through meals or physical assistance, providing nourishments and fluids to residents between meals, answering call bells and providing assistance, making beds and changing linen, assisting residents to tidy their rooms and closets as per request and need, providing foot care to residents as directed by Registered staff, etc.
- Assists new residents to setting into their rooms and helps orientate them to their new surroundings.
- Refers any problems or changes in condition for Residents to the Registered Nurse.
- Ensures that documentation for resident care is accurate and concise.
- Participates in providing input for resident care plans.
- Raises concerns regarding the need for restraints and follows through on orders of Registered Staff regarding restraint use.
- Participates and/or provides input on necessary committees to achieve quality care for Residents of the Home.
- Acts as an advocate to ensure that Residents are given every opportunity for choice and independence in their activities of daily living and life decisions and is supportive of these choices.
- Practices and ensures that others follow good infection control.
- Ensures that all information about residents is maintained as confidential and only necessary information is shared with members of the health care team as per consent of the resident.

**Requirements of Personal Support Worker (PSW)**:
- Valid PSW Certificate from a recognized College or equivalent.
- Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy with residents, families, volunteers and visitors.
- Current CPR certification is an asset
- Experience in Long Term Care setting is an asset
- Additional relevant courses are an asset
- Must possess English language verbal communications skills and literacy skills sufficient to understand verbal and written instructions.
