**Description**

**Responsibilities**
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor plumbing, carpentry work, and general repairs to ensure the building's infrastructure is safe and functional.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify maintenance needs and address them promptly.
- Handle minor painting and touch-up tasks to maintain a clean and fresh appearance throughout the shelter.
- Deep cleaning of areas not on regular cleaning schedule ie. Defrost deepfreezers
- Create and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for building maintenance tasks.
- Respond to maintenance requests from staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and follow established protocols for handling hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of facilities for special events or activities held at the shelter.
- Create chattel list of shelter assets

**Requirements**:

- Experience in building maintenance, preferably in a similar setting such as a shelter, residential facility, or social services organization.
- Knowledge of various maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage maintenance schedules and records.
- Strong communication skills to interact with staff and clients
- Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods.
- Understanding of and sensitivity to the unique needs and challenges faced by women in crisis.
- Knowledge of OHS safety regulations and WHMIS 2015 protocols for handling hazardous materials and waste disposal.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if transportation duties are required).
- Personal alignment with the Mission and Vision of the Camrose Women’s Shelter.
- Maintain confidentiality as expressed in the policies of the Shelter, recognizing the sensitivity surrounding work conducted in a women’s shelter.
- Act in accordance with all policies and practices of the Society.
- Maintain positive, courteous, and professional demeanor when representing the Shelter in the community.
- Criminal record check and child welfare check are required to start.

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
