BC Children’s Hospital
Vancouver, BC
BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province’s most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the BC Children’s and Women’s Hospitals is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills to join the Division of Microbiology, Virology and Infection Control, located in the heart of Vancouver, on British Columbia’s West Coast.
The Department provides the province’s pediatric and obstetric populations with tertiary/quaternary laboratory care. The Division is responsible for providing academic pediatric and maternal-fetal medicine diagnostic services for the province of BC, with a focus on rapid bacteriology and virology testing, including an extensive menu of microbiological nucleic acid amplification tests. **About Provincial Health Services Authority**
- BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) provides expert health care, including mental health care, for the most seriously ill or injured children from across British Columbia. Child development and rehabilitation is provided by Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children, a program of BC Children's. In addition to providing specialized pediatric services — many of which are not available elsewhere in the province - BC Children's is the province's leading teaching and research facility for child health. As a hospital of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA), BC Children’s strategic action plan supports PHSA’s strategic direction, outlined in the PHSA Service Plan. We are grateful to all the First Nations who have cared for and nurtured the lands and waters around us for all time, including the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), and səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh Nation) on whose unceded and ancestral territory BC Children’s is located._
The Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) plans, manages and evaluates specialized health services with the BC health authorities to provide equitable and cost-effective health care for people throughout the province. Our values reflect our commitment to excellence and include: Respect people - Be compassionate - Dare to innovate - Cultivate partnerships - Serve with purpose.
BCCH is part of the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA).

PHSA and BCCH are committed are committed to employment equity, encouraging all qualified individuals to apply. We recognize that our ability to provide the best care for our diverse patient populations relies on a rich diversity of skills, knowledge, background and experience, and value a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility for all of us. The BC Government unanimous passing of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act was a significant step forward in this journey—one that all health authorities are expected to support as we work in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to meaningful and lasting reconciliation. True reconciliation will take time and ongoing commitment to work with Indigenous Peoples as we move toward self-determination. Guiding these efforts PHSA must uphold legislative obligations and provincial commitments found in the foundational documents such as including Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Calls for Justice (2019), the Declaration Act Action Plan and Remembering Keegan: A First Nations Case Study.
