**Job Overview**

We are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to handle our company's procurement activities. The Purchasing Manager's responsibilities include developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities.

To be successful as a Purchasing Manager you should be able to manage, optimize, and participate in the purchasing activities and processes. An outstanding Purchasing Manager should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers.

This position will be located at our growing manufacturing plant, located in Stoney Creek, ON.

**Function of the Role**:

- Planning, Organizing, and Participating in Purchasing functions.
- Communicate Job expectations and ensure they are being met.
- Planning, monitoring, & appraising job results.
- Coaching, counseling, disciplining, & developing Purchasing Agent(s).
- Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, & procedures.
- Maintain and report on KPI’s.

**Specific Role Responsibilities**:

- Monitor demand for materials based on forecasts, system parameters, master schedule and firm orders.
- Accountable for scheduling suppliers to meet customer demands and manufacturing requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Coordinate with Production and Shipping to ensure components arrive in time to meet production and shipping dates.
- Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers/vendors and contract negotiations.
- Lead a ‘lean culture’ approach to materials planning & purchasing for continual improvement activities.
- Lead in the development & implementation of a strategic approach to reducing vendor costs, where appropriate.
- Plan materials budgets, to be coordinated with the overall sales and operations budget.
- Define and manage cost effective materials strategies, ensuring waste and stock levels are in line with KPI’s (key performance indicators).
- Monitor and track price changes, price negotiations, RFQs, approve PPV’s and communicate changes as necessary.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and manage inventory both internally and at subcontract suppliers.
- Improve the scheduling and lead-times on our purchased items and services.
- Identify deficiencies in the planning/reordering parameters and work towards eliminating them.
- Sources new parts based on Engineering specifications.
- Maintains ISO9001 records related to the purchasing function.
- Assist in ISO Internal Auditing function.
- Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.

**Qualifications & Education Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Purchasing Manager or related role.
- Working experience in a manufacturing or production industry preferred
- Experience in HVAC purchasing (metals, electronics, gas components)
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
- Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) designation or registration in the educational program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada will be considered an asset
- Must have strong knowledge in Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with ERP or MRP software such as Microsoft Dynamics Nav and CRM are considered an asset
- Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical and interpretive skills
- Proven success in a supervisory, management or leadership role in purchasing
- Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization
- High level of integrity, reliability, and assertiveness
- Strong critical thinking, negotiation skills and detail oriented
- Team-oriented personality

**Work environment**
- Day shift (8:00am - 4:30pm)
