Shanghai Construction Group Canada Corp. is a dynamic and rapidly growing construction firm specializing in underground tunneling projects. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a Land Survey Technician to join our team.

**Position Overview**:
We are looking for a Land Survey Technician for our tunneling division. As a Field Survey Technician, you will play a vital role in the collection of accurate geographical data and measurements essential for SCGCC construction sites. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, practical fieldwork skills, and a strong understanding of surveying principles and tools. Working closely with site crews you will contribute to the successful execution of projects by conducting field surveys, gathering data, and ensuring the integrity and precision of collected information.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Utilize surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and digital levels, to conduct precise field surveys in diverse terrain and environmental conditions.
- Collect and record accurate measurements, coordinates, and other relevant data points using surveying instruments and techniques.
- Assist in identifying and marking property boundaries, land features, and other relevant landmarks according to project requirements and survey plans.
- Prepare survey sites by clearing vegetation, setting up survey markers, and ensuring accessibility for surveying equipment and personnel.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of surveying equipment to ensure accurate measurements and optimal performance in the field.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working in the field, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to site-specific safety procedures.
- Assist in processing and analyzing survey data using computer software to generate maps, charts, and reports for project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other project team members to coordinate field activities, resolve technical issues, and ensure project objectives are met.
- Maintain accurate records of field surveys, data collection, equipment maintenance, and other relevant information to support project documentation and compliance requirements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in surveying techniques to enhance job performance and contribute to professional development.
- Working nights, weekends, extended shifts, overtime hours as required
- Other duties may be assigned.

**Who we are looking for**:
1. Proven experience in field surveying or related fieldwork, with proficiency in using surveying instruments and equipment.

2. Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and methodologies, with the ability to interpret survey plans and drawings.

3. Proficiency in using computer software for data analysis, such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and CAD (Computer-Aided Design).

4. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure the accuracy of survey data.

5. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a commitment to safety and professionalism.

6. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to different project sites as required (within Edmonton area).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: From $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
