**Job Title: Sample Reception**

**Reports to: Laboratory Manager**

**Department: Food Residue**

**Basic Purpose**:
Inputting sample information into computer database efficiently and accurately (data entry comprises 80% of this role) and accurate inspection of samples.

**Key Accountability/Responsibilities**:

- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Work Instructions (WI’s) when conducting all aspects of work
- Ensure all client orders are entered in a timely and accurate manner according to the COC; process necessary paperwork and notify project management as required
- Ensure appropriate test code and parameters are entered for every job, either by using a quote, profile or master test code list
- Ensure accuracy of information for all in-house projects (including, but not limited to test codes, project references)
- Ensure departmental workflow is followed and priority tasks are met and completed in required timeframe
- Proactively ensure overall satisfaction of client base including communication to project management / supervisor as appropriate
- Investigate and resolve outstanding issues/jobs through departmental collaboration
- Work closely with customer service staff to grow Bureau Veritas’s regional market share with existing and new clients
- Use innovative and proactive methods to ensure core performance standards and business goals as measured by scorecards, coaching sessions and key performance indicators are achieved
- Streamline departmental processes and procedures, ensure consistency and maximize efficiencies, while maintaining a focus on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Attend regular team meetings to share Corporate and Departmental information, and to communicate and share ideas
- Ensure "Good Housekeeping" standards are met or exceeded
- Adhere to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
- Support and comply with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
- Participate, when requested in lab and health and safety meetings
- Participate, when requested in internal and external audits
- Keep work area clean, neat and organized
- Provide general lab support
- Maintain training records and relevant qualifications
- All other responsibilities as assigned

**Skills and Knowledge**:

- Post-secondary education, sciences preferred
- 2 years of experience in a Sample Entry or related role within the laboratory
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication skills (both written and verbal), and detail oriented
- Energetic personality that can work independently and as part of a team
- Work well under pressure in a multi-tasking fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently as well as engage others when required in escalation of concerns to meet the client needs or to best manage client disappointments
- Committed to working in a team environment demonstrating a positive approach
- Demonstrates refined problem solving, decision making and conflict resolution skills along with ownership for all inquiries from internal/external customers
- Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Acrobat Reader)
- Keyboarding skills: minimum 60 wpm with an accuracy level of 95% or higher
- The job incumbent must be available for shift work, working on weekends and overtime

- Hazardous materials are handled using established safety procedures and appropriate PPE
