Summer Job Opportunities at Shadow Lake Camp - Community Living Toronto

We are seeking an Arts & Crafts Instructor for our Summer 2025 camps.

Here is an opportunity to join a dynamic team who come together each summer to provide memorable, meaningful, and fun camp experiences for guests with intellectual disabilities.

Owned and operated by Community Living Toronto, Shadow Lake is a bustling summer home-away-from-home for over 500 guests with special needs and over 80 staff members.

The arts and crafts instructor is part of the Program team and reports directly to the camp coordinator. They provide different arts and craft activities daily using a variety of different mediums. They adapt activities based on needs and interests and ensure inclusion in all activities.

The Arts and Crafts instructor will:

- Assist the Camp Coordinator with planning of the daily activity schedule
- Plan and implement all arts and crafts activities on a daily basis according to guests wants and needs
- Create visual schedule of upcoming activities at camp.
- Adapt activities based on the needs of guests
- Assist in the planning and implementation of mass (large group) evening program, working with the Camp Coordinator
- Assist counsellors in morning and/or nighttime routines
- Document and report incidents to senior staff
- Communicate with other departments to ensure the safety and security of guests
- Adhere to all policies and procedures

Qualifications:

- 1+ years’ experience planning, implementing and leading recreational programs. Arts and Crafts background an asset.
- Education in Recreation and Leisure Studies or a related field is considered an asset.
- Previous experience working with individuals with special needs.
- First Aid/CPR and AED Certification

Prior to the first day of camp, all staff participate in a week-long training program, and on-line orientation. Everyone is required to obtain a police check prior to starting work.

Contract length: 14 weeks

Pay: $17.20-$17.70 per hour

Expected hours: 49.5 per week

Flexible language requirement:

- French not required

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
