Job Description:
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for effectively managing a set of activities and responsibilities to ensure they meet or exceed company expectations and requirements related to the sourcing, purchasing and process improvement of all goods and services related to Not for Resale categories. This role will work closely with the leadership team of Pet Valu and their supervisors to help achieve financial targets related to spend for NFR categories. It is expected that this role will maintain the company’s policies, code of conduct, and mission statement when dealing with outside third-party vendors on behalf of our organization. This role will work closely with our leadership team, legal department, and others to educate the organization on proper processes and policies related to the sourcing and purchasing of NFR goods and services. This individual must assist the organization in monitoring and controlling costs and identifying and addressing opportunities as they arise.

- Serve as the liaison between potential vendors and PetValu business owners
- Follow all policies and code of conduct with third party vendors
- Expertise - Provide knowledge in an understanding and informative way.
- This individual will provide strong support to the Manager of Procurement and Process Improvement helping set priorities, identify targeted opportunities and supporting the various business units
- This individual will be responsible for working with the business on sourcing and contracting process for NFR goods and services
- This individual will be responsible for our purchasing and replenishment process for NFR goods and services as required
- Prepare action plans, project plans, or other initiatives as directed
- Review all contracts, business terms and statements of work presented by third party vendors
- Efficiency - Use time and resources responsibly.
- Work closely with legal department to protect the company in any contract
- Work with third party vendors to ensure business continuity
- Provide regular updates on initiatives, categories and processes
- Work with business units to establish a sourcing calendar and review of active vendors
- Work cross functionally in the organization to establish consistent category reviews
- Communicate daily with the departments, company leadership and team on any status updates
- Review your progress, activities, and outstanding issues on a frequent basis with your supervisor
