At Compass CPA Professional Corporation (previously Emily Mantle Professional Corporation), we are dedicated to helping clients start, scale, and build businesses and wealth, together. We provide clients with full-cycle service including financial system design, recordkeeping using modern and integrated technology, fractional CFO consulting including operational and performance improvement, and professional accounting, tax compliance and advisory services.

We work with some of the coolest businesses and organizations in Northern Ontario and we are looking for bookkeepers and/or senior bookkeepers to join our close-knit team. The salary range for this role will depend on your experience.

**About the Role**

As a CPA with Compass CPA, you will have the opportunity to receive exposure to a variety of interesting client-service work in a positive and supportive environment. You will work closely with the engagement partner, clients, and team members in all facets of the recordkeeping segment of the work we do.

**What Your Day to Day Will Look Like**
- You will compile financial statements for privately-owned businesses in accordance with CSRS 4200, “Compilation Engagements”, working closely with the engagement partner and clients.
- You will prepare the annual T2, “Corporation income tax return” in accordance with the Income Tax Act.
- You will be exposed to and will learn to go beyond strictly compliance work by designing and implementing income tax planning strategies from both a personal and corporate income tax perspective.
- You will learn how to and will deal with the Canada Revenue Agency by assisting clients undergoing an income tax review or audit and will learn how to deal with any tax controversy that may arise.
- You will prepare personal income tax returns for clients, learning how to optimize and provide additional value beyond strictly compliance.
- You will learn how we collaborate with a client’s external advisory team (lawyers, bankers, financial advisors, investment managers, etc.) for the overall benefit of a client.

**What You Need to Succeed**
- An accounting or business degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Ideally, you will be a CPA as recognized by CPA Ontario or, if not a CPA, have 3-5 years’ experience working in public accounting with owner-managed businesses.
- An interest in working with private businesses and their owners.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Familiarity with Caseware and TaxCycle considered an asset.
